London Newborn Photography: Newborn Photography’s Frequently Asked Questions

1.) When do I book?

As I book up quickly, it is important to book as soon as you receive the okay from your 12 or 20 week scan. This ensures you have a spot saved for your due date month and you don’t miss out on a spot when baby arrives!

2.) Is it Safe?

Newborn photography is perfectly safe with a trained and professional newborn photographer. Unfortunately the industry is not regulated so it is important to choose a photographer with a lot of experience and training. This is often also demonstrated by the quality of their work and how comfortable newborns look in their images. There are many poses that need to be well practiced and a photographer must know how to safely do them (composite images where hands never leave baby). This requires training and vast experience.

3.) How much is it?

4.) Do you provide props?

Yes, all props you see on my website and mine and my studio is full to the brim with beautiful colours and unique props for your newborn session!

5.) Do you come to our home?

Home Sessions are done naturally and unposed in your home, I bring no props and just my camera. Sessions with props are only done in studio. Home sessions focus on family images with baby around your home (you must have good natural light and space to work with in most rooms). If you would like a posed prop session (all the gorgeous props and colours you see on my site), this is done in my London newborn photography studio.

6.) When is it best to do a newborn session?

Newborns are best photographed under two weeks old as they are super sleepy and womb-like. This creates beautiful posed images and makes for an easier session as newborns under two weeks haven’t started to get colic yet.

7.) How do we book a date when we don’t know exactly when baby will arrive?

We reserve your session by reserving the time around your due date month. I take on a limited amount of newborns per month to ensure I am available as newborns can arrive 6 weeks early or 2 weeks late! I then ask you contact me within 48 hours of baby arriving to schedule in your exact session date as it can get too messy otherwise!
