How Do We Secure A Date For Your Newborn Photography Session?

London-newborn-photography-345

“How do we schedule an appointment when I don’t know when exactly baby will arrive?”

This is by far the most common question I receive in enquiries (after of course, “how much is a session?”)! It is a completely valid question as only 5% of newborns actually arrive on their due date! Naturally, I don’t get many newborns that arrive when they are supposed to, many are 5 weeks early or 2 weeks late. As a result, I recommend securing your session months in advance (after your 12 or 20 week scan, whatever you are most comfortable with) so that you are well prepared for an early arrival.

So how do we schedule a session when we don’t know when baby will arrive? We schedule for your approximate due date month! I take a limited amount of sessions per month (another reason to book early as I’m booked up months in advance sometimes) so that I have the flexibility when baby arrives. After I reach my quota for pre-bookings I don’t take on any more babies that month. When baby arrives I ask you to contact me within 48 hours of baby arriving to schedule in our exact session date. This method is helpful not only so we don’t have to change dates around when baby arrives early or late but so that we can see how you feel after giving birth. Some mothers have amazingly quick recoveries and others have tricky c-sections that leave them bed-ridden for a few weeks.

I highly recommend booking your session after your 12 or 20 week scan as I do book up quickly. Also newborns are best photographed from 5-15 days old and I find that when baby arrives all time goes out the window and before you know it that window is gone! By scheduling early you have everything organised and ready for when baby chooses to arrive!
