Romantic and modern maternity photography in Southampton.

Natural Southampton Maternity Photography focusing on embracing motherhood and new life through emotive and romantic images.

Being a mother myself, I truly understand the deep love you already have for baby and feel this has improved how I show connection in my maternity photography in Southampton. You are welcome to bring your partner and children to maternity sessions as this is such a momentous time in your family’s life.

My Southampton maternity photo sessions can take place in my cosy home studio or at one of Hampshire’s many outdoor locations from the New Forest to Winchester, Totton, Lymington, Romsey, Andover, or Portsmouth. Each backdrop adds its own beauty and emotion to your maternity portraits.

Hampshire offers such a variety of landscapes — the seaside (my absolute favourite), rivers, forests, and walking paths scattered with wild ponies and donkeys — perfect for creating natural, story-filled maternity photography near Southampton.

Celebrate nine months of growing your little miracle with beautiful, authentic imagery. The best time for your Southampton maternity photoshoot is typically between 30–35 weeks of pregnancy.

Meet Kirstin- Your Southampton Maternity Photographer

STORYTELLER

MAMA

CAT LOVER

I’ve photographed maternity for 12 years now and it wasn’t until I had my first pregnancy that my passion for it really ignited.

Instead of stiff, traditional maternity photography in front of a backdrop and studio lights I seek to help you remember the feeling of pregnancy. The butterflies in your stomach as you wonder who that little human inside of you will be, what their personality will be like and how they will change your life forever.

Many of my clients travel from Romsey, Totton, or Portsmouth for their maternity photography in Southampton, and love the peaceful, intimate atmosphere of the studio. Outdoor sessions are also available in the New Forest — a beautiful option for earthy, natural maternity images.

As hard as it feels right now with the morning sickness, the swollen ankles and possibly the pelvic girdle pain, you’ll miss your bump one day and I hope the images we take of your pregnancy will take you back to that miraculous feeling of those little kicks inside your belly. It truly is the best thing I’ve ever experienced.

Getting professional photos done of your pregnancy is so important as professional photographers capture you in your best light. They can find flattering angles and poses as we have vast experience in doing so. Our goal is to make you feel your best, most confident self. Those nine months of pregnancy are truly such a fleeting time and it is so important to capture them.

Every pregnancy is unique, and that’s what inspires me most about Southampton maternity photography. Whether it’s your first baby or your third, every session tells a new story, filled with emotion, anticipation, and quiet moments of connection. My goal is to create images that show the beauty of your journey exactly as it feels in this moment.

We had a maternity shoot with Kirstin in the New Forest and it was absolutely wonderful! Not only is she talented in taking the most beautiful and natural shots, she had the ability to make us feel at ease and comfortable. We felt like we could just be ourselves. The photos are stunning and we are beyond happy with them!”

01.

When should I do a Maternity Photography Session in Southampton?

I recommend scheduling in your Southampton maternity photography session when you are 31-34 weeks pregnant. This is because you want to have a beautiful pregnant bump but also not be so heavily pregnant that you can’t move comfortably. I recommend this small timeframe because I have had many clients (even first time pregnancies) give birth at 35 weeks. By scheduling a maternity session in this small window, we can ensure that you get your beautiful bump photographed before baby arrives!

02.

What if I don’t feel comfortable in my pregnant body for my maternity photo session?

It is very rare that a pregnant mother feels extremely confident in her pregnant body as the changing pregnant body comes with aches, pains, sickness and extreme fatigue. This can make the thought of a maternity photo session feel exhausting! However, I recommend sticking it out and having a maternity session as the lasting memories the images create are so worth it! The job of a maternity photographer is to make you feel confident, create a relaxing and peaceful environment and help find the most flattering poses for you. My goal is to make you feel at ease during your maternity session regardless of location and help you create beautiful images that you can cherish long after baby arrives.

03.

How to Style Your Southampton Maternity Photography Session and what to wear?

When you book your Southampton maternity photoshoot, we’ll chat beforehand about styling, outfits, and the overall feel you’d like — whether soft and romantic, minimal and modern, or earthy and organic. I’ll guide you through poses that feel natural and flattering, so you can relax and truly enjoy the experience. Sessions usually last around an hour, giving plenty of time for outfit changes, partner portraits, and breaks if needed.

My photography editing style is warm and the colours that compliment this the best are browns, creams, whites, rusts and earthy colours. I have a wide range of dresses in these colours in my Client Closet that you can choose from in your booking email.

I love photographing these colours because they are timeless, warm and help to create a beautiful cosy and natural vibe. I think that long dresses that show off your baby bump are the most flattering and offer the best natural look as they flow when walking and create beautiful movement in your maternity images.

While I love using long maxi dresses for maternity sessions, I highly recommend wearing what you prefer so that you feel the most comfortable. If this means jeans and a t-shirt then go for it! Being comfortable and confident in what you are wearing will go a long way in creating beautiful, strong maternity photographs.

04.

Do I need to know how to pose for my maternity photoshoot?

I always tell clients not to worry if they are camera shy, my job is to guide you through subtle and natural poses that make you feel confident and beautiful. As a maternity photographer, I am here to guide you so you are not expected to know exactly how to pose. Your job is just to enjoy the session and embrace your growing baby bump. I always come prepared with a series of prompts to help you pose in the most flattering way and I use the location to inspire the session.
I love using your home or my studio in a home lifestyle maternity session to act as a prop to inspire new and creative ideas. We go from room to room using windows, your bed, the sofa and various backgrounds to create a beautiful, natural session. The same goes for an outdoor maternity photo session in Hampshire; I love to use trees, shadow, long grass or the beach to act as a beautiful backdrop and prop to help aid you in posing and feeling natural. Never fear if you are camera shy as there are very few individuals who love posing for the camera!

05.

Do you offer “Bump to Baby” packages?

Yes! I have a Maternity & Newborn Session package that captures you pregnant and later when baby is here. I think maternity sessions are so important as I find so many women regret not having a maternity session because they felt like they were too uncomfortable with the changes to their body or they didn’t feel well.

Yet it is so important to capture the amazing miracle that your body is creating and celebrate the life you are bringing into this world. Having a professional maternity session helps capture you in your most flattering light and celebrates the anticipation and excitement of baby arriving soon.

Maternity photography is best photographed from 32-25 weeks and can be photographed in your Hampshire home, outdoors anywhere in Hampshire or in my Southampton lifestyle studio.

06.

Can I involve pets in my Southampton Maternity Photography Session?

I often get asked if your pets can be included in your maternity photography session and I always excitedly answer with a big YES! I love asking you what breed your dog is and what their name is and during our session you will find me loving every second with your pet and I often leave as their new best friend. They LOVE running around the New Forest for a maternity session. These furry friends keep us company during our pregnancy and are such a vital part of our families. It is so important to capture them in your maternity photography session to help the memories of these sweet souls last forever.
