“Little Crumpets Photography” Presents
Newborn Photography Training & Mentoring Workshops
1-2-1 In-Person Newborn Workshops
SO YOU WANT TO BE A NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER?
Newborn photography is about so much more than taking a beautiful photo—it’s about safety, soothing, and confidence.
Without the right training, sessions can feel overwhelming and unpredictable. That’s why I created my natural newborn posing workflow: a gentle, womb-like approach designed to keep babies calm, comfortable, and beautifully posed—whether you’re in a client’s home or a studio.
Through my online course or intimate in-person workshops, I’ll teach you how to work safely, pose naturally, soothe confidently, and run smoother, quicker sessions that parents will love. Don’t spend years figuring it out alone—let me show you how to get there faster.

1.) In-Person Newborn Photography Workshop
My 1-2-1 newborn photography workshops start with a tea and chat at my Southampton studio at SO15 3FR and we can discuss how to tailor the workshop to your needs/ weaknesses. We will then have a Q&A after working with our newborn model. We start at 10am and are usually finished by 2-3pm (depending on how our precious models are).
You will receive a PDF Guide of what I discuss on the day that includes my workflow, what you need to start as a newborn photographer, list of my entire kit, my tips & tricks that have taken me 12 years to learn, my editing workflow and favourite tools.
As a little bonus to the in-person workshop, we can take headshots of you! I love helping new photographers flourish and part of this is helping with your branding. Let’s get you dressed up with your camera and we’ll take some branding headshots for your website.
You must have a basic understanding on how to use a DSLR camera.

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP AND TRAINING FAQs
01.
Why do you need newborn photography training even as a lifestyle newborn photographer?
Working with precious newborns is no joke. I’ve heard many photographers say they don’t need any newborn photography training because they just shoot lifestyle newborn photography and never hold the baby themselves and allow parents to do the posing. However, one must remember that parents don’t have any posing experience and don’t know how to safely do these poses either. Even in the most natural documentary style, it can only benefit you as a newborn photographer to have a bit of training in safety and soothing newborns. Knowing how to shoot with the technical aspects of newborn photography in mind like natural lighting, angles and soothing a newborn will only help your newborn photography grow and progress.
It is a bit like being an abstract artist. Most of the great abstract artists all had vast art training and were able to paint realistically but once they learned all the rules, they were then able to loosen up and defy them. Learn the technical and safety basics of newborn photography and then use them to enhance your natural newborn photography work.
02.
What experience and training do I have?
With over 10 years of experience in newborn photography, I’ve photographed more than 1500 newborns and attended many workshops from many of the great posed newborn photographers from across the world like Kelly Brown, Amy McDaniels and Jade Gao. I initially started as a posed, studio newborn photographer which I did for many years and trained with some of the best. I then changed my style to be more natural and work in client homes but use my technical newborn posing background to influence and perfect my natural newborn photography work now. By taking the time to learn the posed newborn photography style, I am able to truly help enhance your natural newborn work.
03.
Why my workshops aren’t a styled shoot or “shoot along”.
While you get the opportunity to photograph every pose in my newborn photography workshops, this is not simply a “shoot along” or styled shoot. My newborn photography workshops are an intensive learning experience where I seek to impart as much of my knowledge about newborn photography onto you. Prior to our newborn models arriving, we will have a discussion about all the aspects of natural newborn photography and safety, then while we are shooting our newborn models and their family, I will explain everything I’m doing while posing and photographing. I will discuss posing, safety, natural lighting, working in client homes and marketing in depth.
04.
Why did I start mentoring newborn photographers?
Mentoring other newborn photographers was the most natural progression for me, I live and breathe newborn photography and am so passionate in helping other newborn photographers become successful enough to have a lifelong career in the niche.
05.
I only do home newborn photography sessions, is this workshop right for me?
Yes! About 80% of my newborn photography work is done in client homes because I absolutely adore it and love showing newborn photographers that they don’t need a studio. I discuss in detail how I shoot in client homes and my workflow for it.
06.
Do I need any prior experience in newborn photography to attend your workshops?
My newborn photography workshops are tailored to your needs so I can cater to beginners or experienced newborn photographers. I just ask you know how to use your camera!
