Family Portrait Session in the London Studio

Through these last few posts I’ve provided a little insight into my family life, here is a little session I did of my mum, sister and I on their last night visiting me before they went back to Canada. We had such a great time photographing this session as I had set the camera on a tripod and ran back and forth to pose and reset the camera. We laughed so hard at the outtakes of us and my mum wasn’t sure how to pose so we had to try to teach her. I did this session because I miss my family dearly and we don’t have many pictures of us Reddington women together!

I’ve been wanting to try this traditional studio portrait style for awhile now and love the look of black on black with the textured backdrop. I kept it simple with one backdrop and just a few poses but the beauty of this session style is that it captures your facial expressions and focuses on you! Something simple like this is timeless and will be in style for years to come. Sometimes I have clients that want a million different set ups and this session just shows you that simple can be better.

It is so important to preserve your memories by taking pictures frequently and setting aside time and and a budget for a professional portrait session for all your family members together. We don’t have as many pictures of my mother because she was always the one taking the pictures as we grew up. She always hid behind the camera. So I knew I had to get her in front of my camera! We will always cherish these images and remember the laughter we shared while taking them. We had such a fantastic two weeks together and it was so sad saying goodbye to them at the end of it!

This session is also an example of family sessions with older children and adults. Professional portrait and family photography isn’t just for when your children are young but it can also capture your family as it grows.
