How Do I Book A Newborn Session if I Don’t Know When Baby Will Arrive Exactly?

London-newborn-photography-373

A frequently asked question I get about newborn photography sessions is, “How do I book in a date for the session if I don’t know if baby will be born early or late?” As only 5% of babies are born on their due date, I am very used to this dilemma! The trick is that we reserve your approximate due date month and then I ask you contact me within 48 hours of giving birth (sometimes new mums have so much adrenaline and are so excited that they message me immediately to let me know) to schedule in our exact newborn photography session date based on you are feeling. I schedule a limited amount of newborn sessions per month so that I can be flexible with due dates as some newborns arrive 6 weeks early or 2 weeks late, I have to be ready for anything with newborns!┬áTherefore, it’s best to book your session early as due to limited spaces I do book up quickly.

When Is The Best Time To Do a Newborn Photography Session?:

Newborn sessions are typically done from 5-14 days old. This is the best time because newborns are sleepier at this time, still curly and womb-like and don’t have many baby spots yet. I do everything in the session so don’t worry about feeling too tired or sore! As I am a professional newborn photographer, I photographer hundreds of newborns per year and am very good as soothing and comforting newborns. Being a newborn photographer is not simply about the photography but knowing how to handle babies safely and properly. All you need to do during the session is relax on the sofa! Many of my clients become so relaxed with the warmth of the studio and the white noise that they fall asleep!
